‘Like that’: Commentator says Tottenham youngster did something ‘Harry Kane-esque’ during yesterday’s friendly

Tottenham Hotspur’s commentator Rob Daly said Harvey White did something ‘Harry Kane-esque’ during yesterday’s friendly win over Motherwell.

Antonio Conte’s men were involved in a behind closed doors friendly against the Scottish outfit yesterday and put on an emphatic display.

Dejan Kulusevski, Bryan Gil and Matt Doherty got on the scoresheet to hand Spurs a 4-0 win.

White was one of three Spurs youngsters named in the starting line-up and the 21-year-old played in a new role.

The midfielder played as a false nine and Daly was amazed by a piece of hold-up play he produced during the first-half.

White did something ‘Kane-esque’

Spurs were already a goal to the good after Kulusevski opened the scoring inside the first few minutes but White was impressing as a striker.

The youngster received the ball just inside his own half in the 15th minute and turned before playing a perfect ball to Matt Doherty on the left-hand side.

And Daly said his link-up play was similar to that of Spurs talisman Harry Kane.

“White dropping deep. Harry Kane-esque really with his link-up play like that,” .

White has only made two first-team appearances for Spurs after coming through the academy set-up in north London.

He’s yet to feature under Antonio Conte but he will have certainly impressed the Italian yesterday.

The midfielder enjoyed a decent spell on loan at Portsmouth during the 2020-21 campaign but has been training with the first-team this season.

After an eye-catching display, White will be hoping to feature in Spurs’ next friendly against Nice.

The World Cup break will certainly give Conte the opportunity to take a closer look at some of the emerging talents in his squad and White will have caught the Italian’s eye yesterday.
