‘Like a cat with a mouse’… BBC pundit hails 26-year-old Leeds ace in win at Cardiff

Leeds United cruised to a 3-0 win away at Cardiff City in their Championship encounter on Saturday afternoon.

Daniel Farke’s Whites were rampant against the hapless hosts and could’ve easily scored more.

Leeds boasted 61 percent possession and weighed in with 15 efforts, seven of which were on target.

There was one moment in the second half which led to former Leeds defender Jon Newsome describing two Whites players as “like a cat with a mouse”.

Just before the hour mark, Archie Gray set up Daniel James with a superb weighted pass. The latter came so close to scoring with a lob, only for the ball to hit the woodwork.

“Quite brilliant from Archie Gray and almost perfect from Dan James,” Newsome said on BBC Radio Leeds, as per .

“The keeper makes a poor decision to come out, could easily be 3-0.

“Just toying with them, playing with them like a cat with a mouse.

“It is that easy that we need to be careful and not give something away.

“I don’t think they are even good enough to be classed as playing like boys in ‘men against boys’ at the moment.”

Leeds United run riot at Cardiff City to edge closer to Championship top two

Leeds opened the scoring in the 13th minute after applying pressure from the off as Patrick Bamford scrambled the ball home.

Then, 26-year-old James doubled the Whites’ lead in the 31st minute, tapping home after Jak Alnwick kept out Crysencio Summerville’s effort.

Leeds had the chance to make it 3-0 from the penalty spot after Georginio Rutter was fouled by Mark McGuinness, but Summerville hit the woodwork with his effort from 12 yards out.

It didn’t matter in the end as the Whites did go on to add a third, Rutter firing home late on following a superb counter-attack involving James, Summerville and Bamford.

Leeds’ victory kept them fourth but put them just four points off second place, while also establishing a five-point cushion over fifth-placed West Bromwich Albion.

Next up for the Whites is a Championship meetign with Preston north End at Elland Road next Sunday.
