Liam Lindsay can be more successful than Aston Villa’s last two raids on Barnsley

Aston Villa have been linked with another raid on Barnsley, having taken two key players from them in the past.

, Aston Villa are lining up a summer move for Liam Lindsay.

Barnsley rate the central defender at £2.5m with Aston Villa pondering a summer swoop.

But the Villans will heed the warning from their last two purchases from Oakwell as these players have had mixed success.

Conor Hourihane and James Bree were both brought in from Barnsley and have both struggled at times.

Hourihane is a regular in Aston Villa’s central midfield department but has been criticised by fans for his inconsistent performances.

Bree, on the other hand, was loaned out to Ipswich Town in January to get him some much-needed playing time.

Despite Lindsay’s two predecessors acting as a warning, he definitely has the ability to become a success at Villa Park.

The 23-year-old is a regular for Barnsley, who are competing for promotion in League One, with 36 appearances to his name this season.

Formerly of Partick Thistle, the Scotsman has a bright future and is about to enter the prime of his career.

Lindsay has the potential to enjoy more success in the West Midlands than Hourihane and Bree have done since their moves from Barnsley.
