Liam Cooper posts reaction as Helder Costa seals move from Leeds
Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas were amongst the players to wish Helder Costa well in reaction to the winger’s move away from Leeds United over the weekend.
Costa has become the latest player to leave Elland Road in this window. The Angola international has joined Al-Ittihad on loan for the season.
It is likely to mark the end of his Leeds spell. that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have the option to make his move permanent next summer.
Costa’s departure will not have come as a surprise. He spent last season out on loan with Valencia. And Jesse Marsch showed little interest in using the 28-year-old during pre-season.
In truth, Costa has largely been an underwhelming signing at Elland Road. In fairness, he played an important role in helping Marcelo Bielsa’s side seal promotion from the Championship.
But the arrival of Raphinha relegated Costa to the periphery of the squad. And he did little in the Premier League – beyond his first two appearances – to suggest that he would be able to really contribute.
Nevertheless, it is clear that Costa remained a popular figure amongst the squad. The likes of Dallas, Cooper and Pascal Struijk responded as the wide-man took to Instagram to comment on his move…

It makes sense for all parties for Costa to move on. Leeds have strengthened in attacking midfield with the likes of Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra this summer.
Costa should be in his prime. So he will not want to be stuck on the sidelines.
Leeds will hope that a permanent move does take place further down the line.
