Liam Cooper lauds Tyler Roberts on Instagram after Leeds win
Liam Cooper has lauded Tyler Roberts on Instagram after the Wales international’s display as Leeds United beat Crewe in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have reached the third round of the competition for the first time since he was appointed at Elland Road.
In fact, it was Leeds’s first cup win since they beat Salford 3-0 in the same competition two years ago.
Kalvin Phillips opened the scoring, before Jack Harrison bagged a late brace for the Premier League side.
It was an opportunity for a few players to come in and perhaps impress. And Roberts was one of those to make a rare start.
He did have a role to play in both of Harrison’s goals. He made a brilliant run to make more space for the winger for his first.
And it was his attempt on goal that was parried into Harrison’s path for the final goal of the evening.
Roberts took to social media following the game to comment on the victory and express his delight at playing in a full Elland Road once again…
And one of those to praise the 22-year-old in response was the club captain…

Roberts ended last season in impressive form. He scored his first Premier League goal in the penultimate game. And he produced some very good performances.
And the very early signs suggest that he is ready to pick up where he left off.
He actually looked extremely bright when he came on against Manchester United. He set up a brilliant chance for Raphinha, and could have arguably had a penalty on another day.
And he showed further promising signs against Crewe.
He needs to make more of an impact in the future. But there have certainly been glimpses of the player he could become.
