Liam Cooper lauds Leeds under-23s on Instagram after title win

Liam Cooper has paid tribute to the Leeds United under-23 starlets on Instagram after they got their hands on the Premier League 2 Division 2 trophy on Monday.

Mark Jackson’s men wrapped up the title and promotion with two games remaining after an outstanding season at Thorp Arch.

Four points in those final two fixtures left Leeds eight clear at the summit. And they rounded off their campaign in some style at the start of this week.

They beat fellow promotion-chasers Burnley 5-2. It was a pulsating game that included several moments of serious quality, a number of hard-hitting challenges and even a spat over who would take Leeds’s first penalty.

But none of that mattered soon after the final whistle. Charlie Cresswell was able to lift the trophy amongst all of the youngsters who have played a key role in their success this season.

And amongst those to laud Jackson’s side was Cooper. The first-team skipper sent a classy message to the group on social media…

One of the reasons it is so exciting to be a Leeds supporter right now is the care that is being taken throughout all of the age groups.

From the outside, it does seem that the club focus almost as much attention on the under-23s and those knocking on that door as they do on the first-team.

And because of that, Leeds now have an incredibly special group of young players who could be  key men at Elland Road for years to come.
