Liam Cooper insists Leeds will stick to philosophy after recent blip

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper insists that his side are still in a strong position in their hunt for promotion this season and insists they are not going to change the way they play.

The Whites have suffered three defeats in their last four league games and it’s made their position in the automatic spots look more fragile.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team sit second in the league standings, but third-placed Fulham are only three points behind and they are entering a crucial run of fixtures.

The Yorkshire club travel to fourth-placed Nottingham Forest on Saturday and only have a four-point cushion above them.

They then have games against Brentford and Bristol City, who sit fifth and sixth respectively just five points behind them.

Colossus defender Cooper is adamant that Leeds will stick to their principals for the rest of the season, despite the fact they faded away at a similar stage last campaign and ended up losing in the play-offs.

“We’ve got 16 games left, we know how hard it is going to be after last season. There will be more ups and downs, but we are still in a good position. Top two, we know what we need to do,”

“Despite the bad run, we are not going to change how we play, we know what are philosophy is and we will continue to do what we have been doing, what we have spent the last two years training for.”

TBR’s View:

Leeds should be sitting pretty in the automatic spots if they come through their next three games unscathed, but they go into them in poor form and there is a real fear growing around the fanbase at Elland Road.

They have continued to dominate matches with their possession, but have been extremely wasteful in the final third and uncharacteristic defensive errors have started to creep in too.

Bielsa does some quite stubborn in his ways when it comes to his set up, but perhaps a few changes in personnel could work a trick.
