Liam Cooper and Adam Forshaw both think Leeds star was ‘different class’ on Tuesday night against Palace
Tyler Roberts started his second Premier League game of 21-22 for Leeds on Tuesday – but Liam Cooper and Adam Forshaw love what they saw.
Roberts, 22, has been struggling for form of late. Many among the Leeds fanbase believe that the Wales international has been below par this term.
Of course, that could be down to a lack of game time and only getting substitute appearances – apart from the 1-0 defeat to Southampton.
But he started against Crystal Palace and while Roberts failed to get his name on the score sheet – his work rate was met with praise from fans.
Even in the last few minutes, £10m () Roberts charged down a Palace defender, cornered him and deflected his clearance out for a throw in.
Eventually, Leeds won the match with an injury-time penalty – after Raphinha scored past Vicente Guaita. Roberts posted on Instagram.
Forshaw and Cooper heap praise on under-fire Leeds man Roberts
Patrick Bamford has now been absent for 10 league games this season due to an ankle injury. When he returns, he is expected to start above Roberts.
But Roberts might have just given Marcelo Bielsa a slight headache. It will have told Bielsa that Roberts’ best, and most-natural position, is up top.
Confidence will be coursing through Roberts now, after his outing. But it also tells Bielsa that he is better as a striker, than a number 10.
Clearly, his Leeds teammates were delighted to see him shine in a white shirt – with both Forshaw and Cooper labelling him “different class”.
