🎶Ollie Watkins has been one of the stars of the Premier League ever since he joined Aston Villa, but the Englishman could’ve easily been a Tottenham Hotspur player.

♏Back in the summer of 2020, when Watkins was still at Brentford, Spurs expressed their interest to sign him. The Bees were willing to negotiate as well, but Daniel Levy made it absolutely clear that he won’t pay a penny more than £20 million. ()

𓆏Brentford decided to reject Levy’s offer and in came Aston Villa with £13 million more. Watkins joined the Villans for £33 million (), and he has been absolutely incredible for them over the last year.

ꦰIt would’ve hurt Spurs that they couldn’t secure a move for Watkins. Levy’s reluctance to pay £13 million more has proved to be a bad decision, and what could happen next might make this miss even more painful for Tottenham fans.

After Spurs missed out, Arsenal could sign Watkins

📖After ripping Spurs apart in the North London derby, Arsenal are looking to inflict more pain on Tottenham. The Gunners reportedly have one eye on the January transfer market already, and Watkins is on Mikel Arteta and Edu’s wish list.

꧂ revealed earlier this week that Arsenal will look to sell Alexandre Lacazette in January. The Frenchman has already entered the final year of his contract and if the Gunners don’t sell him in the winter window, he’ll walk away for free.

ꦆEdu is working really hard to move him on and if he succeeds, Arsenal will need a replacement. The report claims that Watkins and Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin are the strikers Arteta is looking at, and Gooners would arguably love either one of them.

🏅Watkins, labelled as ‘‘ by Dean Smith, would be an excellent option for the Gunners. He is quick, hardworking, and loves to press. That checks the boxes Arteta looks for in his attackers, and he could well be the one Edu goes after.

꧋However, the Englishman will have over three years left on his contract. Villa will demand a mammoth fee for him, possibly twice as much as what they paid for him last year, which could complicate things for Arsenal.

⭕But, Edu has already seen how Levy refusing to open his wallet cost Spurs a fantastic player.

ꦯThat could well convince him to splash the cash on Watkins, who will not only be a great addition to Arteta’s side, but the move will annoy a few Spurs fans as well, which is an added bonus to every Arsenal supporter.
