ඣTottenham Hotspur star Emerson Royal has claimed that his comments on Nuno Espirito Santo were misconstrued.

💮The Brazilian, who only joined Spurs last summer, hasn’t had it easy. Moving into a new country and not knowing the language is a big problem for every footballer and Emerson was no different.

🌄In an interview with in his first few months in North London, Emerson claimed: “I don’t understand anything. They’re talking and I don’t understand it but then I start understanding it by looking at what they’re doing in training and doing the same. But when they explain it, I don’t understand it.”

꧙That made many people believe that Emerson was aiming a dig at Santo, who refused to speak to him in Portuguese. The Brazilian has now clarified those comments.

Emerson Royal on his Nuno Espirito Santo comments: I wasn’t complaining

𝔍The 22-year-old said on the : “Let me explain this rubbish. When I gave an interview talking about it, it wasn’t that he didn’t translate to annoy me. He used to say this to me: ‘You have to learn English!’

▨“.I’ll go through the training and you’ll get by to understand the training, because that way you’ll learn. So he did it for good. And I spoke in the interview, I spoke relaxed, and people understood that he was messing with me.

꧙“I wasn’t complaining. That was good. The things I know in English, that’s why. Because I had to learn.”

𓄧Emerson played every single Premier League game under Nuno, which made it clear that there was no rift between them whatsoever. His comments now should end any doubt about that situation.

🤪Nuno’s time at Tottenham was a terrible one. The Portuguese tactician was shown the door after just 10 league games in charge. He only picked up 15 points in that period, which was clearly not good enough.

ꦯSpurs now have Antonio Conte at the helm and his record shows that he’s on another level compared to Nuno. It will be interesting to see how well Tottenham will fare in the coming weeks and months under the Italian.
