Leon Osman suggests Everton defender Lucas Digne over Andrew Robertson for Team of the Year

BBC pundit Leon Osman believes that Everton defender Lucas Digne should have been included in the PFA Team of the Year after the XI was .

Manchester City (six) and Liverpool (four) dominate the team voted for by players, while Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is the only inclusion outside of the top two.

Digne has enjoyed a strong first year in English football at Goodison Park since he made the switch from Barcelona last summer.

The 25-year-old has been an ever-present in Marco Silva’s side at left-back, where he’s managed to take over the role smoothly from Leighton Baines.

Osman has disputed the selection of Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson in the Team of the Year, stating that he feels the Everton full-back should have pipped him.

“Hard to argue with the majority of these picks, although Lucas Digne and Eden Hazard would have definitely been in my XI. Robertson and Pogba making way,”

Regular Everton watchers will know how big an impact Digne has made on their season and he’s quickly become a firm fan favourite.

The all-action defender is relentless with his back to goal, while offensively he’s proven himself too.

The Frenchman has four goals and five assists in all competitions for the Toffees, with his set-pieces a real weapon for Silva’s team.

But it’s no surprise that Liverpool counterpart Robertson has beaten him to the Team of the Year and in truth there can’t be huge arguments about it over the course of the season.

Liverpool’s flying Scotsman has provided an incredible 11 assists across all competitions with nine coming in the league and is the perfect modern day full-back.
