Leon Osman hails Idrissa Gueye after Everton win against Burnley

Leon Osman picked out Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye for praise after his performance in the win over Burnley on Friday night.

The Toffees moved up to eighth in the Premier League by winning their final home game of the season 2-0 against Burnley.

Marco Silva’s team remain in the hunt for a potential European finish, as Ben Mee’s own goal and a Seamus Coleman header gave the hosts three points at Goodison Park.

The Merseyside club have discovered some excellent form in the last couple of months to finish the campaign strongly and the defence has been resilient.

Ex-Everton midfielder and now BBC pundit Osman was impressed by his former side against Burnley, while he also gave Gueye a special mention.

“Superb sign off to the season. We need to carry this on going into next to make a real splash. Another great performance from Idrissa Gueye,”

TBR’s View:

Gueye has been a key player in Silva’s side this season and was at his usual best in the win over Burnley.

The 29-year-old is a defensive midfielder that sits in front of the back four to provide protection and he constantly breaks up play.

He’s turned out to be a genius £7.1million signing () for the Toffees and is one of the first names on the team-sheet.

The Senegal international is perhaps overlooked in the division for his performances, as there aren’t many who cover as much ground and can read the game better.
