Leigh Griffiths comments could easily be a dig at Moussa Dembele

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been discussing his future this week. The frontman has been speaking after joining up with the Scotland national team about potentially signing a new deal at Parkhead.

Griffiths, who joined Celtic from Wolves in 2014, has gone on to score over 100 goals for the Bhoys and is an important member of the first-team squad.

He has now made it clear he hopes a new contract can be agreed so he can go on to score 200 goals for the Glasgow club.


“Why would you want to leave a club like Celtic? You’re playing week in, week out playing in front of 60,000 fans every week. You’re winning trophies every season. There are not many players that can say they’ve played for Celtic.”


But in explaining why he wanted to stay, was there a sly dig at Moussa Dembele present.

His long-term striking partner and rival left Celtic last week. The Frenchman returned to his homeland,

It was a move that many stated was good for the player. He has achieved all he can at Celtic, was his belief, and felt it was time for a change.

Others, however, believe the grass is not always greener. Playing for Celtic, in front of the passionate fanbase and winning regular silverware, cannot be an underestimated feeling.

Griffiths clearly feels there is no substitute.
