Leif Davis posts on Instagram after Leeds defender undergoes surgery
Leeds United youngster Leif Davis has informed fans on Instagram that an operation on his left knee has gone well, with many unbeknown to the fact that he was even injured – leaving a crisis of injuries at left-back.
Some were hoping that the 19-year-old left-back would start against Aston Villa on Sunday. Davis made his debut against Villa in the reverse fixture, which saw Leeds come from two down to win 3-2.
He has impressed when given the opportunity, and with Gjanni Alioski during Barry Douglas in the treatment room, the Whites are lacking on the left side of defence.
But Davis has ruled himself out after telling fans on his Instagram that the operation to his knee has been successful. It is appears that either Stuart Dallas or Gaetano Berardi could play at left-back on Sunday.
TBR’s view
It leaves Leeds very light on the left side of defence, but the chances of Davis playing at left-back in such an important game against Villa were unlikely.
Yes, Bielsa has had faith in his young players this season. But on Sunday, a more experienced head is required.
Northern Ireland international Dallas is just that man, but there is no doubt that Bielsa would rather have Davis, Alioski and Douglas all available.
