Leif Davis makes claim about Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa

Leif Davis that he feels that he is working with probably the best manager in the world in Marcelo Bielsa.

Davis has handed the Whites a major boost heading into the international break. The club have confirmed on their official website that the 19-year-old has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal with the Championship side.

Davis looks to be one of the most exciting prospects in a Leeds side littered with brilliant youngsters. And following the announcement regarding his contract, Davis explained how excellent it is for his development that he is working under Bielsa.

“I’ve progressed massively, with Marcelo Bielsa he has brought my attack and defensive play on really well and I think I’ve come a long way which I’m really pleased with,” .

“It’s been good to get minutes, I need to keep progressing week in week out and hopefully I can go on to get a left-back or centre-back spot.

“I’m still 19 and I’m still learning, but obviously it’s good to have probably the best manager in the world with you at the start of your career.”

Davis has enjoyed a remarkable rise. It is easy to forget that he made his first-team debut less than a year ago. He made an incredibly impressive start at Aston Villa, and he has made a significant improvement since.

The teenager is now an important part of Leeds’s plans. Davis started both Carabao Cup games this season, and has come off the bench in the last two Championship fixtures.

And Bielsa looks to be the ideal man to help Davis realise his potential. A number of previously-criticised players have thrived under the Leeds boss.

The likes of Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw have been outstanding this season. And of course, Kalvin Phillips is now considered one of the league’s best after being transformed by Bielsa.

Davis has a long way to go. But as he suggests, he could probably not ask for a better mentor at this stage of his career.
