Leicester should stick with a midfield combination of Youri Tielemans and Wilfred Ndidi

Leicester City have nine days to wait until they return to action at home to Crystal Palace in the Premier League, but there should be room for optimism despite the club’s poor results lately.

The Foxes may have just one point from their last five league games, but now have an extremely favourable fixture list and are more than capable of putting a run of positive results together.

Claude Puel’s side suffered a defeat to Tottenham in their last match, but were the better side in the contest and it was only a lack of clinical fishing that let them down.

If they can replicate that type of level in upcoming games they should be able to close the seven-point gap to Wolverhampton Wanderers in seventh, which could be enough to secure a European spot for next year.

Leicester face Palace, Brighton, Watford, Fulham, Burnley and Bournemouth in their next six matches, where they should be targeting a strong points return.

The match against Spurs is where manager Puel may have stumbled across a combination that could work wonders for the rest of the season.

A late injury to Nampalys Mendy before kick-off, meant that Wilfred Ndidi was drafted into the starting XI to feature alongside January loan signing Youri Tielemans in the centre of the park.

Leicester appeared to have an excellent balance to their side against Spurs and the midfield combination has so much potential.

Tielemans looked comfortable during his Premier League debut and the central midfielder was intelligent with his timing on when to help join the attack.

Meanwhile, defensive midfielder Ndidi looked somewhere back to his best with a powerhouse display.

There is real potential for the duo to lock down the starting position together and they should dominate midfield areas against lesser opponents.
