Leicester don’t need set-piece king Calhanoglu because they already have Maddison
Leicester City are keen on a summer swoop for AC Milan’s Turkish international playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu,
They that Brendan Rodgers is ready to battle with West Ham for the midfielder, who has been put up for sale by the Italian giants for a fee of 30m euros (£26m).
The 25-year-old is something of set-piece specialist as well as someone who can dictate the pace of a game from the number 10 position.
But Leicester already have one of those in the shape of James Maddison, who has taken to Premier League football so impressively in his maiden top flight campaign.

Leicester could do with another, younger striker and perhaps a more consistent winger, but they don’t need Calhanoglu for as long as they have Maddison.
The Turk’s best quality is his set-piece delivery – and that’s what the young Englishman is making a trademark of at Premier League level – so it does not seem worth spending a huge sum on someone who can produce the same.
Only European qualification may necessitate the kind of squad depth that having two playmakers in a similar ilk offers, and while that is a possibility for Leicester at this stage, it’s an outside bet.
