Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez linked with a £45 million move to Chelsea – will it happen?
If reports iওn are to be believed, Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez could be on the verge of a £45 million move to Chelsea. It would be a deal that would see Mahrez link up with former team-mate N’Golo Kante in a bid to add a second Premier League title to his trophy cabinet.
⭕His future has long been up the air, with the winger wanting away from Leicester, having been subject to bids from across Europe. The most well-known of these offers was a £27m bid from Italian giants Roma, as reported by .
It is now Chelsea, however, who are in pole position to sign the 26-year-old, with Conte intent on signing the wide-men for ♉around £45 million.
What would Mahrez bring to Chelsea?
Riyad Mahrez was, of course, an integral part of Claudio Ranieri’s title-winning side in the 2015/16 season. In a season which put the forward on the footballing map, and i🥃nto the sights of some top European 𒅌clubs, the Algerian scored seventeen goals and assisted eleven, driving the Foxes to Premier League glory.
An underwhelming return last season has not deterred the likes of Chelsea from wanting Mahrez’s signature, 🌃and his talent is still there to see. Already this season, he has two assists to his name.
For Chelsea, Riyad Mahrez would represent a very good signing in what has been a fairly miserable window for Antonio Conte and Blues fans, having continually missed out on top ♔targets.
For £45 million, they would get a player able to occupy either wing or fill in at wing-back, offering competition to Pedro and Victor Moses. There’s no doubt he’s💞 also ready to contri🉐bute in the goals and assist department.
Will the transfer happen?
News came on the morning of deadline day that the winger had left the Algerian training camp in order to complete a transfer to one club. Chelsea appear to be the favourites but Spanish giants Barcelona are also interested in the Algerian🦂.
It will most probably come down to the player, and what he prefers. Mahrez has to choose between a move to London and Premier League champions Chelsea, or a move to o✨ne of the bigg💝est clubs in world football, La Liga runners-up Barcelona.
