Leicester man Harvey Barnes highlights credentials with standout display against Manchester United

Leicester City lost their third home game in succession on Sunday as Manchester United claimed a 1-0 win at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes played their part in an entertaining contest and on another afternoon they might have claimed a share of the spoils.

Ex-Red Devils defender Jonny Evans fluffed his lines from six-yards out; whilst Claude Puel’s men also came up against an in-form David de Gea in the United goal.

One man in particular who represented everything good about Leicester was Harvey Barnes.

The youngster spent the first half of the season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, where he netted nine goals and claimed seven assists, earning a recall by his parent club.

It was uncertain what sort of role the winger would play having been recalled from the Championship but Puel has thrown him straight into action.

The 21-year-old gave Ashley Young the runaround at times on Sunday and his form this season will naturally be catching the eye of England boss Gareth Southgate.

Having made his debut for the England u-21 team in October, the Burnley-born youngster has continued to go from strength to strength this season.

Southgate has developed a reputation for given rising stars a platform within the England setup and Barnes looks every inch a star for the future.

Barnes will hope to continue to shine when he is given opportunities in the Leicester team.

Leicester might be in miserable form right now, but Barnes is looking like a player that possesses real quality.
