Leicester City ace Rachid Ghezzal will “100%” be joining Besiktas, claims his father
Mohamed Ghezzal, the father of Leicester City star Rachid Ghezzal has claimed that his son will leave the Foxes.
In an interview with Turkish publication, Fanatik, the figure claimed that Ghezzal will be joining Super Lig outfit Besiktas.
Ghezzal has endured a tough time with the Midlanders since his transfer back in 2018, making just 23 appearances.
The Algerian spent the second half of last season on-loan at the Turkish giants. He scored eight times and provided 17 assists as he led the outfit to the league title.
Speaking about the player, the club president Ahmet Nur Cebi claimed to be relaxed about the attacker’s situation.
When speaking about his son, Mohamed Ghezzal said: “My son is very happy in Beşiktaş. They will compete in the Champions League this season. Ghezzal will continue his career in Beşiktaş, 100%. We expect the transfer to be completed in a short time./p>
“He’s very good with all the players. Playing in Istanbul and Beşiktaş helped him a lot. It is very difficult for him to go to another team after this time. After my son’s performance, this season, not only Beşiktaş but also Galatasaray made an offer to us./p>
TBR View: Ghezzal needs regular football and Leicester need money
With the club’s current transfer activity, it seems certain Ghezzal has no future at the King Power Stadium.
Patson Daka has already arrived to add to what is a saturated attack. He joins the likes of James Maddison, Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes, all of whom are competing for a starting place.
The Algeria international desperately needs regular first-team action, and he’s more likely to get it in Turkey.
Meanwhile, a sale of the African would raise some much-needed funds for the Foxes this summer.
The side were hit hard by the Coronavirus pandemic, losing before tax last for the 2019/2020 season.
Daka and Soumare have already cost £45m and with more signings on the way, funds will be needed.
