‘Legend’, ‘We will always love you’ – These Liverpool fans react to Peter Crouch’s retirement
At the age of 38, Peter Crouch has announced his retirement from professional football. The former striker , on his official Twitter page.
After a lot of deliberation this summer I have decided to retire from football !
Our wonderful game has given me everything.
I’m so thankful to everyone who helped me get there and to help me stay there for so long. X— Peter Crouch (@petercrouch)
The decision brings an end to a 20-year career that saw him feature for a number of English clubs. The 6’7” forward began his journey in the Tottenham Hotspur academy. He went on to feature for QPR, Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Spurs and Stoke City, amongst others.
Crouch last featured for Burnley, who released him earlier this summer upon the expiry of his contract.

Crouch collected many accolades in his long career, including 42 England caps. He scored 22 goals for his country, and represented the Three Lions at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. He also picked up some silverware, including the 2006 FA Cup with Liverpool.
Crouch also featured for the Reds in the 2007 Champions League final, where the Merseyside outfit fell short against AC Milan. In total, Crouch made over 100 appearances for the Anfield club and produced a number of memorable performances for them, including scoring a spectacular bicycle kick against Bolton Wanderers and a ‘perfect’ hat-trick against Arsenal.
Liverpool were amongst Crouch’s former clubs to wish him well in retirement. Many Liverpool fans also took to Twitter to react to the news of the towering attacker’s retirement.
