Leeds would be landing a bargain in £6m target man, if Kenny Miller’s claim comes true

Kenny Miller has claimed that Aberdeen need to play tough over the future of on-fire striker Sam Cosgrove and set his price tag as high as £6million – but Leeds United would be landing a bargain if they can sign the Scottish Premiership ace.

Cosgrove, 23, has been in stunning form for Aberdeen this season – netting 20 goals over 26 league and cup appearances. He has been linked with a move down south due to his unbelivable form, including Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Derby County are all interested in landing the big striker, who came through the ranks at Everton – and joined Aberdeen from Carlisle in January 2018.

Leeds could do with a striker, with Eddie Nketiah likely to return to Arsenal as he is yet to be handed a Championship start. Patrick Bamford remains first choice, but Cosgrove would push him and Miller reckons he is worth at least £6million.

“Aberdeen knocked back £6m for Scott McKenna, no disrespect to centre-backs but strikers should be higher, and I’m sure Aberdeen will be looking at a higher fee than that for him [Cosgrove],” Miller told

But if Aberdeen were willing to sell Cosgrove for that figure, they would not only be adding a striker that is in stunning form with confidence running through his veins – but a centre-forward that would finally see them replace Chris Wood.

Since Wood departed to join Burnley, Leeds have not replaced Wood. Pierre-Michel Lasogga was an unfit version, while Bamford goes in and out of form. But Bamford is not the same kind of striker as New Zealand international Wood.

The Burnley ace scored 30 goals the season before he left, and Cosgrove has the exact same attributes as the ex-Leicester man. Signing Cosgrove for just £6million would give them another version of Wood, at just 23 years of age.
