Leeds Transfer News: Marsch to get more backing after Rutter deal with two more targeted

Leeds United’s board will continue to back Jesse Marsch this month and are looking to sign at least two more after the signing of Georgino Rutter.

The Whites are set to announce the signing of Rutter today in a club record deal. It will bring an end to the search for a new striker and take the pressure off Patrick Bamford, who is desperately trying to come back to full fitness.

However, while Leeds are spending more than £30m on Rutter, it’s not going to be the end of their business.

reports how the Whites are keen to keep spending. It’s claimed that a midfielder and a full-back are high on the list of priorities for Jesse Marsch.

writes how Leeds have already held talks about signing Azzedine Ounahi from Angers as well. Tottenham are thought to be keen on Ounahi as well, while there’s been talk of a move to Napoli over in Serie A being his preferred option.

by Angers, Ounahi is expected to depart for less than that in the end. Leeds are believed to have bid £22m, although there is no sign if that offer has been accepted as yet.

TBR’s View: Leeds going for it to remain in the Premier League

You can’t really blame Leeds here. Despite spending a bit in the summer, it’s clear as day that Leeds need a bit more to really climb the table.

As it stands, they remain too close to the relegation mix and that will worry the board. Clearly, they’ve decided to chuck a bit more money at it and not risk their PL status.

Rutter is a good signing for now and the future. Ounahi, too, would excite the Leeds fans. But above all, the good news for the Elland Road faithful is that Marsch is being backed.
