Leeds, Villa and other PL sides reportedly want midfielder that Lampard raved about

Leeds United, Aston Villa and five other Premier League clubs have reportedly shown interest in signing Liverpool star Harry Wilson this summer – and Frank Lampard’s comments about his work rate will excite supporters over a possible move.

Wilson, 23, is some way down the pecking order at Anfield and after returning to Liverpool following his loan spell at Bournemouth, thw Wales international is expected to leave his boyhood side before Monday’s deadline.

Burnley have tabled an offer worth £12million for Wilson – who managed just his second senior Liverpool outing on Thursday night against Arsenal. But Burnley face competition from six other Premier League clubs.

Leeds, Villa, Southampton, Fulham and Newcastle have all expressed interest, while Leicester City enquired earlier in the window. Lampard, who managed Wilson at Derby during 2018-19, raved about his work rate and predicted big things.

“Everything about his game is positive, he wants the ball, he’s creating, he’s scoring so it’s not just the fantastic goals that Harry Wilson is; he’s a player who is developing fast and I’m loving watching him play at the minute,”

“He’s a threat, he works hard, he wants to play every minute of every game. I know Harry is happy here, 12 goals this season and performing as well as he is so I hope it continues. He’s become a hugely important player for us.”

TBR’s view – Wilson would be a top Leeds addition

Especially if he is available at a bargain £12million, Wilson would be a top addition for most clubs in the bottom half of the Premier League table. Leeds saw a deal for Michael Cuisance fall through, after the Frenchman failed a medical.

It sees Leeds still needing a midfielder to go alonside Mateusz Klich. The Whites have been linked with numerous attacking midfielders, but under Lampard at Derby – Wilson netted 18 times after being converted into a 10, instead of a winger.

Leeds have got to consider a move.
