Leeds urged to re-sign Tottenham player, but do they really need him?

that Leeds United should consider raiding Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of left-back Danny Rose – but do the Whites really need to bring him back?

Rose, 30, has impressed at Newcastle United since joining The Toon on loan from Spurs – but it remains to be seen if the England international will be signed permanently by Steve Bruce’s men. His future is up in the air.

That is also, because Rose is in the final 12 months of his Spurs contract. Rose joined Tottenham in 2007 from Leeds as a 17-year-old without making his senior debut for the Elland Road side.

But Murphy suggested that Leeds could consider a move to bring Rose – as well as Liverpool’s out-of-contract playmaker Adam Lallana – to Elland Road. Rose is likely to be available for a cut-price figure.

“Adam Lallana, out of contract at Liverpool, would be perfect. Great energy, good footballer, good attitude. Danny Rose is a Leeds boy. He’s been a top left-back for a long time. Maybe he’ll want to go home,” Murphy said.

But do Leeds really need Rose? The Whites certainly need to sign their loan stars on a permanent basis, while a new striker, another central defender and a permanent partner for Mateusz Klich should also be considered.

However, at left-back, Leeds are well stocked. Stuart Dallas is currently first choice after being moulded into a left-sided defender, while Gjanni Alioski is also an option. Barry Douglas and Leif Davis are natural left-backs.

So, while Rose would be a big-name signing, do Leeds really need to consider a move and heed Murphy’s advice by bringing Rose back to Elland Road – especially considering his £60,000-a-week contract ()? Probably not.
