Leeds United’s summer interest in Nahitan Nandez justified amid shock form and reported PSG interest
In the summer Leeds United were being linked with a move for Uruguayan midfielder Nahitan Nandez. As reported by in April, Leeds were ready to make a bid for the Boca Juniors midfielder this summer.
Unfortunately for Leeds, plenty of other clubs were also keen on the player including Cagliari.
The Italian side, who Leeds drew 1-1 with this summer in a pre-season friendly commemorating both club’s respective centenaries, went on to win the race for the 31-cap Uruguayan international in a deal

This was despite Nandez’s agent that Nandez wanted to play under Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa.
“I prefer to leave it [Cagliari] as an alternative option.
“I spoke with important clubs in Europe and he [Nandez] told me that he would like to play with Bielsa.”
But that price-tag obviously priced Leeds out of any deal for the player but it is certainly looking like the Whites’ interest was justified.
Cagliari have been the surprise package of Serie A this season. They currently sit fourth in the table after 13 games, above the likes of Roma, Atalanta, and Napoli. Nandez has been key to that success, dominating midfield and allowing star-man Radja Nainggolan to roam in a more attacking role.
Such form has seen him linked with PSG and several of Italy’s biggest clubs, as well as further interest from Leeds,
Perhaps, if Leeds can win promotion, the idea of bringing Nandez in can be considered once again.
