Report: Leeds step up pursuit of Havertz 2.0, player is open to Elland Road switch

Leeds United are ready to make a second move for RB Salzburg star, Brenden Aaronson, with claiming a new £20m bid could be coming the way of the Austrian club this week.

The Whites are determined to land Aaronson one way or another and, in an ideal world, want to bring the USA international in before the end of the month. The 21-year-old has been a regular for Salzburg this season, although in terms of baseline stats, he has just goals to his name all season.

But that hasn’t deterred Leeds in their pursuit of the midfielder. Marcelo Bielsa is said to be desperate to bring in reinforcements this month. Crucially, too, reports how Aaronson is open to the idea of playing for Bielsa, who he feels can help his career progress rapidly.

Leeds have already lodged a £15m bid for Aaronson this week which has been batted away. Injuries have ravaged Leeds’ attempts at building on last season’s success in the Premier League this term. However, an impressive 3-2 win at West Ham in midweek has given Bielsa and his team fresh hope.

a ‘special player’ by Philly Union coach Jim Curtin and compared to German star Kai Havertz, there is definite potential in the locker when it comes to Aaronson.

TBR’s View: Leeds Need New Faces And Aaronson Fits The Bill

You need to tick a lot of boxes to be a Marcelo Bielsa player with Leeds and Aaronson certainly fits the bill in a lot of ways for the Whites.

Full of energy, and young enough that Bielsa can get into him and improve him, Aaronson will no doubt be a success if Leeds are successful here. £20m, too, in the modern market is not too big an outlay either.

Yes, Aaronson will need to improve that goals and assists output. But that is something Bielsa can work on with him over time. If the player wants the move – which reports suggest he does – then Leeds need to strike before January is out.
