Leeds United talent must ignore £4m Premier League interest
Another summer, another young left-back being linked with a Leeds United exit. After Charlie Taylor in 2017, Tom Pearce in 2018 this time around it is Leif Davis being linked with an exit.
Leeds’ talented defender is wanted by Liverpool as a potential back-up for Andrew Robertson. Bournemouth are also said to be keen, with a value of £4 million placed on the player.
Davis only joined Leeds last July from Morecambe in something of an under-the-radar deal. But his rise to the first-team has been more rapid than expected. Davis made his debut in the 3-2 win at Villa Park after injury and illness left Marcelo Bielsa short in the position. Were it not for knee surgery toward the end of the campaign, Davis would have probably played a role in the play-offs.
So should he stay or should he go?
Davis should not even consider an exit at this stage. Breaking into the Liverpool first-team would be an impossible task at present. Even with Alberto Moreno leaving a more experienced replacement is likely and youngster Adam Lewis is highly-thought of at Melwood.
As for Bournemouth, they have just spent big money on a new left-sided defender of their own in Lloyd Kelly.
Davis has been given chances under Bielsa and will probably continue to do so at Leeds United next season. With it looking increasingly likely that the Argentine is going to stay, leaving now would make no sense.
