Leeds United striker Sam Dalby could earn a first-team chance if he pulls off relegation battle heroics

On deadline day, Leeds United decided to let Sam Dalby leave on loan as he joined League Two side Morecambe until the end of the season.

Dalby is a promising young striker who has been impressing for Leeds’ youth team but he needs a return to first-team action.

The 19-year-old has not made his senior debut for Leeds yet but he has previously played for Leyton Orient’s first-team.

Back in 2016, Dalby made his full debut for the O’s as a 16-year-old, scoring in a 3-2 win over Crawley Town.

In January 2018, he joined Leeds and one year on, Dalby is set to test himself at League Two level again with his loan move to Morecambe.

This could be a stint that ends up making Dalby’s Leeds career if he can inspire his new club to safety.

The talented teenager joins the Shrimps for a relegation battle. Although Morecambe are currently out of the drop zone, only one place and two points separate them from the drop.

Jim Bentley’s men will need Dalby to hit the ground running with plenty of goals and assists to push them away from danger.

If he impresses with goals for relegation-threatened Morecambe, then Dalby boosts his chances of a first-team promotion next season.
