Leeds United starlet Sam Dalby relegated to Morecambe reserves after managing just five minutes on loan

In late January, Sam Dalby made the move from Leeds United to Morecambe on loan in the hope of getting valuable playing time under his belt.

Morecambe are in a relegation battle in League Two and Dalby’s performances for Leeds at youth level convinced them to sign him on loan.

This was a perfect arrangement for the Whites on paper as the physicality of League Two would have been good preparation for Dalby’s future.

Before this loan move, Dalby’s only senior playing time came at Leyton Orient, where he scored once in 19 games.

In fact, Dalby has only managed five minutes of action at Morecambe – split over two matches. His one-minute cameo against Bury was followed by a four-minute stint in the loss to Lincoln City.

And , Dalby was dropped to the reserve team for a match against Doncaster Rovers’ second string.

But the London-born striker took his chance to impress by scoring the opener in the 1-1 draw and getting important minutes under his belt.

Leeds fans will be hoping that is enough to convince Morecambe to select him in the first-team so that he can show what he can do in the Football League.
