Leeds United star applauds Newcastle youngster Tom Allan on Instagram after debut
Tom Allan made his debut for Newcastle United on Tuesday night in the 4-1 FA Cup win over Rochdale, as he came off the bench to create Newcastle’s fourth goal – and Leeds star Leif Davis has applauded Allan on Instagram.
Allan, 20, had appeared on the bench for Newcastle twice in recent matches – the 1-1 draw against Premier League side Wolves as well as the original tie against Rochdale, which also ended 1-1. In his third bench appearance, Steve Bruce gave him a chance.
It comes after the boyhood Toon ace has starred in the Under-23 side this season. Despite playing on both flanks or even up front, Allan has netted five times in 10 Premier League 2 games. He replaced Jamaal Lascelles just before the hour mark.
Congratulations on your professional debut ! 🙌

Joelinton will take the plaudits after scoring his second Newcastle goal, ending a 20-game drought since scoring the winner against Tottenham in a 1-0 win. But his strike was perfectly crafted by Toon talent Allan down the right-flank.
At full speed, Allan was found motoring down the wing by fellow substitute Andy Carroll. Allan picked outa perfect low cross for Brazilian Joelinton, who looked relieved as he tucked an effort below the reach of Rochdale goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
Leeds star Davis, who was born in the north east and played for Gateshead before moving to Elland Road, applauded Allan for making his debut at Newcastle on his Instagram story.
