Jack Harrison’s start to 2019/20 means Jack Clarke must impress for Leeds against Salford

Leeds United face Salford City in the first round of the EFL Cup tonight and on paper, the tie looks intriguing, to say the least.

The Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa will probably look to shuffle his pack for the trip to the Peninsula Stadium. His team has claimed four points from their opening two games in the Championship.

With a healthy squad at his disposal, the Argentine will hand starts to a few of his players who have been forced to settle for the bench during the opening two fixtures.

One of those players could be Jack Clarke.

The 18-year-old signed for Tottenham during the summer for an initial £8.5 million fee,  He was loaned straight back to Leeds for the 2019/20 campaign.

Clarke has been forced to settle for a place on the bench in the opening two games, failing to play a single minute so far this season.

Whilst he has twiddled his thumb on the bench, Jack Harrison has been in fine form for the Whites, producing two quality displays.

The Manchester City loanee’s current form makes tonight massive for Clarke.

If he wants to ensure his loan from Spurs isn’t a complete waste of a season he needs to throw himself into Bielsa’s reckoning.

The manager isn’t one to regularly change too many things around and Clarke will be aware of that.

A game against League Two opposition is the perfect game for the teenager to showcase his talent and he must make tonight count.

Harrison may well be in favour with Bielsa just now, but Clarke can offer his boss a timely reminder of his qualities with an eye-catching performance this evening.
