Leeds United now told player they spent £25m on was worth less than a penny before his Elland Road move

Leeds United spent well in the summer transfer window – with Daniel Farke welcoming a number of potential bargains to Elland Road.

The £3.5m signing of Ao Tanaka – who has been compared to Jude Bellingham and is still only 25 years of age – could prove to be excellent business, while the £4.6m addition of Isaac Schmidt may also end up looking like a snip.

Now – however – Leeds United have been told that a player they spent £25m on was not even worth a penny before his move to Elland Road…

Leeds United told interesting detail about Luis Sinisterra

The have now published a feature on how Arne Slot has breathed new life into Liverpool – where there is a section focusing on how the Dutchman improves players.

Interestingly, a comment about Luis Sinisterra is made, with a Dutch source telling the Daily Mail: “I don’t know what Slot did, but all of a sudden Sinisterra was fulfilling his potential and more.

“He went to Leeds for £25m, one of Feyenoord’s biggest sales ever. Before Slot, he could have gone for a dime!”

A dime – also known as ten cents – equates to 0.000475 pound sterling for our readers in the United Kingdom, meaning this Dutch source felt Sinisterra was not even worth one penny.

The Colombia international impressively scored goals and also provided 14 assists in 48 appearances under Slot at Feyenoord, far more goal involvements than he has registered under any other coach.

Sinisterra only managed to score goals in 26 appearances for Leeds United – providing just one assist – before his £20m move to Bournemouth, where he has netted four and set up another four in 27 appearances.

Clearly – judging by these numbers – the South American is heavily reliant on Slot, and Leeds United did well to make £20m back from the Colombian’s sale.

Bournemouth did the Whites another favour

Not only did Bournemouth hand Leeds United £20m for a player who was clearly struggling to adapt to English football in Sinisterra, but the Cherries also did the Whites another favour.

Those at the Vitality Stadium opted to give Leeds United their £20m back for Tyler Adams after just 26 appearances from the United States international, but the American – who clearly possesses injury issues – has made just four appearances in over a year.

Therefore, Bournemouth helped Leeds United out of a tough spot by ensuring that a loss of just £5m was made from the failed signings of Sinisterra and Adams.
