Leeds United must move Kiko Casilla on in January amid goalkeeper transfer rumours

According to reports Leeds United are considering a potential loan move for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson. that the Whites are one of several teams interested in the Old Trafford back-up as he looks for regular football away from the Red Devils.

If Henderson is indeed a target for Leeds, then it surely signals the end of the road for their current second-choice option, Kiko Casilla.

Some might say about time.

Putting aside the charge Casilla received for racist comments last season, which alone might have been enough for some teams to cast him out, Casilla is an expensive luxury Leeds simply no longer need.

The one-time Spanish international has lost his place in the Leeds starting XI to Ilan Meslier and rightly so. The Frenchman has performed well since stepping in during the aforementioned suspension and deserves his number one duties.

Casilla has also failed to impress at times for Leeds, making a number of high-profile errors since arriving at Elland Road nearly two years ago.

But his wages are the main reason why Leeds should be looking to let him go. back in 2019, Casilla was previously Leeds’ highest earner on £35,000-a-week.

Such an amount for a second choice keeper is absurd and even without a move for Henderson, Leeds should be considering trying to find Casilla a new club in January to clear some space on the wage bill.
