Report: Leeds rejected advances from three Premier League clubs for Kalvin Phillips
Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips was the subject of bids in excess of £20 million during the summer transfer window,
The academy graduate and now first-team regular put pen-to-paper on a new five-year contract to remain at Elland Road yesterday.
It is thought that Aston Villa and Burnley had offers rejected, whilst Sheffield United deliberated but ultimately decided against making a formal bid for Phillips
After rising through the ranks at Elland Road the midfielder has become more accustomed to playing as a defensive midfielder under Marcelo Bielsa.

Having been at Leeds since the age of 14 he has become a real fan favourite, making 149 appearances for the first-team.
The Whites lost in the play-off semi-finals last season and Phillips was integral in that run; making 46 appearances in all competitions during the 2018/19 campaign.
Leeds had flown out of the blocks this season winning four and drawing one of their first five games. A loss to Swansea City prior to the international break knocked them off top spot but a good season looks likely once again.
Phillips is yet to miss a single minute of action and is clearly fancied for big things by his manager.
TBR Verdict – New deal highlights the pull which Leeds still has
It is many years since Leeds graced the Premier League with their presence as a football club.
Knowing the nature of the Championship it could be many more before they ultimately return.
There is no quick fix when it comes to winning promotion, although it’s fair to say that news of Phillips’ new contract is perhaps significant in some sense.

The fact that three Premier League clubs have had big-money bids rejected highlights just how much of a pull Leeds is for players when it comes to signing.
Okay so Phillips is a lifelong supporter and leaving might have been a real gutwrenching situation for him; nonetheless, his head could still have been turned by the advances of the top-flight.
The Premier League’s loss is Leeds’ gain, however, and with the midfielder in their ranks, they stand a far better chance of winning promotion this season.
