Leeds United flop Izzy Brown returns to training under Elland Road villain Frank Lampard

Leeds United’s loan flop Izzy Brown is back in training with his parent club Chelsea following an unsuccessful spell at Elland Road.

. There was certainly little fanfare behind the announcement. The last line in the text reads:

“Another name joining the squad is midfielder Izzy Brown, who spent part of last season on loan at Championship Leeds United after recovering from a serious injury.”

After ringing endorsements for the likes of Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount, Brown looks like an afterthought. He also did not spend part of last season at Leeds, he was there from August on.

Leeds fans would be forgiven for forgetting that fact. Brown arrived recovering from a serious knee injury and never managed to play himself into contention.

In the end, the 22-year-old played just 11 minutes of football for the Whites.

Two of those minutes came in Leeds’ final game of the season, against the man who is now his manager.

With options thin and Leeds desperate, Marcelo Bielsa threw on Brown for the final minutes of their play-off defeat to Frank Lampard’s Derby County.

Brown even stepped up to take a free-kick. Unfortunately, his place in Leeds infamy is now not a glorious one. His Drogba-esque effort whomped it’s way into the attending support.

Now the Leeds flop will be hoping to impress recent West Yorkshire enemy Lampard during the pre-season training camp in Ireland.

No Leeds fan would begrudge the youngster any future success given his awful injury luck. It is just a shame he never got a chance to shine at Elland Road.
