Leeds United fans react as Ryan Edmondson scores for U-23’s again

Ryan Edmondson continued his excellent goalscoring rate for Leeds United’s Under-23 side with another goal in a 3-1 Premier League Cup win over Burnley – and some Leeds fans have raved over the striker’s display.

Leeds needed to beat Burnley away from home on Friday afternoon to book their place in the last four of the cup, just days after Carlos Corberan guided his side to Professional Development League North success.

The Whites took the lead. Leif Davis flicked on a Mateusz Bogusz corner, which was turned into his own net by a Burnley defender. But the Clarets equalised just before half time through Dan Agyei.

Burnley dominated the second half but it was Leeds that were clinical. Edmondson scored a superb header after a good cross from Clarke Oduor. It was three with 10 minutes to go, as Hugo Diaz headed home a Robbie Gotts cross.

Edmondson has been on fire for the Whites. Still only 17 years of age, the target man has scored 16 goals in all competitions this season, despite being injured throughout for a couple of months.

Leeds fans have urged Marcelo Bielsa to include the teenage powerhouse in his matchday 18 before the end of the season, as he continues to thrive under Corberan for the club’s second string. One fan reckons Championship defenders would “hate him”.
