Leeds United duo send Instagram messages to Luton star Izzy Brown after Tuesday strike

Izzy Brown finally scored his first goal for Luton Town on Tuesday night – and his first senior goal since April 2017 – as the Hatters beat Charlton 2-1 at Kenilworth Road, and the Chelsea loanee posted on Instagram after the match.

Brown, 22, snapped his anterior cruciate ligament while on loan at Brighton. A move to Leeds followed in 2018-19, where he was signed injured and expected to return in January. He managed just two cameo appearances throughout the entire season.

This season, he remains surplus to requirements at Chelsea and has since joined Luton where he has become the focal point for creation behind the striker. In 15 games this season, he has laid on an impressive seven assists for Luton.

But it was on Tuesday that he finally scored his first goal, as Andrew Shinnie pounced on a mistake by the Charlton defence to feed Luton’s number 24. Brown posted on Instagram after the match, underlining his delight at scoring the winner.

Marcelo Bielsa hardly gave Brown a chance – bringing him on for 10 minutes in a 1-0 loss to QPR and as a last throw of the dice in a play-off semi-final against Derby County. But he failed to make an impact, playing regularly for the Under-23 side.

He still remains a friend of many Leeds players despite going toe to toe with the Whites on Saturday – a result which ended in a late 2-1 win for Leeds. Kalvin Phillips and Leif Davis applauded Brown with comments on his Instagram post.
