Leeds United could now sign £18m captain compared to Yaya Toure after sealing Premier League promotion

Leeds United are back in the big time.

After two seasons in the Championship, the Whites sealed their return to the Premier League with an emphatic 6-0 win over Stoke on Easter Monday, in which they were amazingly 5-0 up at the interval.

As a result, Daniel Farke will need some reinforcements to his squad, to give Leeds United the best possible chance of surviving the 2025/26 campaign and finally re-establishing themselves in the top-flight of English football.

Now – according to – Leeds could bring Tomas Soucek to Elland Road.

Leeds want Tomas Soucek

The Czech news outlet are now claiming that Elland Road is a possible destination for the Czech Republic captain this summer, after he was dropped by Graham Potter.

Soucek – who has been compared to Yaya Toure – was previously a significant player under David Moyes, scoring 39 goals and providing 13 assists in 240 appearances in total following his (£18m) move from Slavia Prague.

However, Potter does not seem to fancy the 30-year-old, leaving him on the bench for the entirety of the recent 2-1 defeat against Liverpool, while giving him just ten minutes of the 1-1 draw against Southampton last time out.

IDNES add that Everton are also keen to sign Soucek – who Jamie Carragher called a “superstar” – where Moyes is eyeing a reunion with the man born in Havlickuv Brod.

Tomas Soucek could push to leave West Ham

Based on what the Czech Republic international told IDNES in February, he will not be content with a place on the bench under Potter for much longer.

Soucek said: “I know a few guys who are happy with the money coming into their account every month, they enjoy the life of a footballer and don’t care about the bench. I can’t do that. I need to play. I suffer on the bench.”

Another season of the West Ham No.28 sitting on the bench could also harm the Hammers financially, as he will only have 12 months left on his contract in June 2026.

Therefore, if Potter gives the green light, a sale seems likely to happen this summer.
