Leeds United could now end up signing £15m player in 2024

Leeds United are right in the promotion mix in the Championship and could look to Ben Brereton-Diaz to further strengthen their ranks.

The Whites boast an abundance of attacking talent already in the second tier. The likes of Crysencio Summerville, Geo Rutter, and Daniel James are causing all sorts of problems for Championship defenders at the moment.

However, it seems Leeds want more over the next few windows and according to journalist Ben Jacobs, former Blackburn striker Ben Brereton-Diaz is a name to watch.

Leeds linked with move for Ben Brereton-Diaz

Speaking for , Jacobs had the following to say on Brereton-Diaz and Leeds.

“One name to watch with Leeds, which I didn’t think I would be talking about in 2024 but could still be possible, is Ben Brereton Diaz. He is a long-standing Leeds target but, obviously, moved to Villarreal at the beginning of this season from Blackburn. It’s not entirely worked out at Villarreal so far, and he hasn’t scored for them despite coming off the back of 16 goals in all competitions for Blackburn and over 20 in the previous season. It’s been a difficult spell for him. Mid-season, by all accounts, he wants to stick it out. But, obviously, if we get to the end of the season and it’s still not working, there might be an opportunity there,” Jacobs .

A striker with a point to prove

Talk about a move not working out. Ben Brereton-Diaz was on fire with Blackburn and the £15m striker landed a huge move when he got the chance to sign for Villarreal.

However, it’s just not worked out at all and he hasn’t even scored a goal yet for the La Liga side.

But, this is still a Chilean international striker who has scored one in three for his country and there is a feeling he might have a point to prove if he does come back to England.

Brereton-Diaz would surely find Leeds an attractive move as well. The Whites are on the up under Daniel Farke and could well be back in the Premier League next season.

For Leeds, this simply adds another top attacking talent to their ranks and if they somehow got him in January, then the Championship would need to be seriously worried.
