Leeds United and Rangers among nine teams reportedly monitoring 15-year-old sensation Charlie Allen
Leeds United, Celtic and Rangers are three of the teams said to be keen on signing Irish teen sensation Charlie Allen this summer, according to reports.
The 15-year-old midfield starlet has been included in the Linfield squad for tomorrow night’s Champions League qualifier against Norwegian giants Rosenborg. If he plays, the Northern Ireland wonderkid will become the youngest Brit to ever feature in the Champions League.
Now is calling the teenager ‘the most wanted player in Northern Ireland football’.
The report goes on to name Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Leicester City as keen on the player.
Championship side Leeds United are also said to be interested in the player. Meanwhile Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers are monitoring the player along with Aberdeen.
The likes of Leeds, Celtic and Rangers would seemingly have the best chance of offering Allen the clearest pathway to first-team football.
Leeds, in particular, would be confident that Allen would thrive in their excellent academy. Rangers would also look like early front-runners, considering their historical relationship with the Northern Irish club.
Allen is also managed by former Leeds and Rangers manager David Healy at present. This could give the two teams another advantage.
Nothing appears to be on the horizon for the youngster as yet. However, fans of Leeds and Rangers might want to keep one eye on Linfield’s fixture against Rosenborg tonight. They might have a future star featuring.
