Leeds supporters discuss Fulham star Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s Sunday display
Leeds United supporters are still hurting following Friday night’s defeat to West Ham United. But with the January window approaching, Leeds could solve their issues – and some Whites fans have identified a potential signing next month.
Against the Hammers, Leeds had an unbalanced feel to their side. There seemed to be gaps in midfield, with Rodrigo’s striker instincts seeing him join the attack, Mateusz Klich being overran and Kalvin Phillips hardly having his best game.
Set-pieces also proved to be another issue. Tomas Soucek and Angelo Ogbonna scored from set-plays, cancelling out Klich’s early penalty. Leeds have now won just one of their last six league games, sitting in a lowly 14th place in the table.
What needs to change? First of all, if Leeds are to enter the winter window, they need a player that is strong in the air – one with a bit of presence and power. They also need a midfielder that can help Phillips, or at least provide Marcelo Bielsa with cover.

Watching on during Fulham’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa starred for Scott Parker’s side. The Cottagers looked rock solid and it only took a Mo Salah penalty to cancel out Bobby Decordova-Reid’s strike.
Anguissa, 25, joined Fulham for a fee of £30million () in the summer of 2018. But he only played 25 times in his first season after joining the club from Marseille – initially joining Marseille just weeks after Bielsa had left the French side.
He went on loan to Spanish side Villarreal and impressed, playing 39 times – and has returned to Fulham with much more confidence. In his 13 appearances this season, Anguissa has quickly established himself as one of the club’s best players.
, he made four tackles against Liverpool and completed five interceptions – more than any of his teammates in both areas throughout the 90 minutes. He was sensational, proving a thorn in Liverpool’s side.

So, should Leeds go in for Anguissa? Certainly, the 26-time Cameroon international has the stamina and work ethic required to play for Bielsa’s side. Not only that, but he also boasts the kind of versatility Bielsa likes in his players.
Central midfield, holding midfield or centre-back, Anguissa offers plenty. However, Fulham are unlikely to want to let him go in January if Leeds came calling – and have three years left to run on Anguissa’s contract at Craven Cottage.
But on paper, he would solve many problems. He would give Leeds a defensive-minded brain in midfield, offering cover for Phillips and at centre-back. Anguissa would also offer a presence from set-plays, and get Leeds looking more sturdy.
Leeds supporters agree. They reacted on Twitter to the Fulham star’s midfield performance against Liverpool on Sunday evening, and many have urged their club to consider bringing the African star to Yorkshire in January.
