Leeds submit bid to sign ‘special’ player Liverpool sold in 2019

Leeds have now made a bid to sign a player who Liverpool decided to sell back in the summer of 2019.

Daniel Farke is yet to make an attacking reinforcement this summer – having only signed Alex Cairns, Jayden Bogle and Joe Rodon so far to bolster the goalkeeping department as well as the defence.

Now – however – a bid has been submitted to bring a very skilful winger to Leeds

Leeds bid for Ryan Kent

A story from in Turkey now claims that Leeds have made a bid for Fenerbahce No.11 Ryan Kent.

The Turkish news outlet believe Leeds have offered €3m (£2.5m) to Jose Mourinho’s side for the 27-year-old.

Leeds actually struck an agreement with Liverpool to sign Kent back in September 2019 before Rangers ended up signing the forward in a £7.5m deal instead.

The man from Oldham remained on the radar at Elland Road for many years, with Marcelo Bielsa seemingly desperate to sign the Englishman, although the move never materialised.

Now, it could be on.

Haber Ekspres add that Leeds have also held talks with Kent himself over personal terms, which suggests Fenerbahce were satisfied with that £2.5m bid – Mourinho is also said to be open to selling the attacker, who does not feature in his plans.

The Liverpool academy graduate – who is contracted to Fenerbahce until July 2027 – made 18 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring one goal while also providing two assists.

Englishman could replace Crysencio Summerville at Elland Road

Leeds may be preparing to sign Kent – who Owen Hargreaves called a “special” player – as a replacement for Crysencio Summerville.

Both the Dutchman and the Fenerbahce No.11 play on the left flank, where they tend to cut inside on their stronger right foot, so stylistically, a swap would make sense.

West Ham are said to be actively working on a deal to sign Summerville from Leeds after making a bid for the Netherlands U21 international, so an exit does seem possible.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as it sounds like Leeds have a fantastic chance of signing Kent this summer, after Mourinho deemed him surplus to requirements in Istanbul.
