Leeds submit bid to sign player compared to Frenkie de Jong and he wants to leave

Leeds have now made a bid to sign a new central midfielder – and the signs are promising.

Daniel Farke needs a new option in central midfield after Glen Kamara and Marc Roca left for Rennes and Real Betis respectively, while the German also lost Archie Gray to Tottenham.

Now, a bid has been submitted as Leeds aim to bolster the midfield department…

Leeds submit bid for Dejan Ljubicic

A story from in Germany now claims that Leeds have submitted a bid for Dejan Ljubicic.

The FC Koln No.7 has been the subject of a €4m (£3.4m) offer from the Whites as he enters the final 12 months of his contract with the German outfit.

BILD believe this bid has been rejected, although Ljubicic himself is keen to leave and does not plan to sign a new deal with the 2.Bundesliga side this summer.

The German news outlet add that the Austria international has impressed throughout pre-season with FC Koln so far, and they would like to tie the 26-year-old down to a new contract.

However, Leeds are believed to be preparing an improved offer for Ljubicic as he hesitates over signing a new contract, so FC Koln are in real danger of losing the man from Vienna this summer.

The defensive midfielder made 26 Bundesliga appearances last season – providing two assists – as FC Koln were unfortunately relegated.

Daniel Farke could sign Frenkie de Jong 2.0

Ljubicic is not exactly a household name in England, so a comparison to a better known player might be appreciated by some readers.

Interestingly, the Austrian has been likened to Barcelona No.21 Frenkie de Jong – who PSG want to sign.

It was who compared Ljubicic to the Netherlands international in a detailed scouting report from Austrian analyst Felix Pichler.

If the Leeds target is even 50% as talented as the Dutchman, Farke could be about to add a special talent to his squad.
