Leeds’ Stuart Dallas lauded after Northern Ireland win

Plenty of fans have taken to social media to laud Stuart Dallas as the Leeds United star produced an outstanding display for Northern Ireland on Sunday.

Dallas would have been forgiven for taking a break after an amazing first season in the Premier League.

However, the 30-year-old made sure to link up with Ian Baraclough’s side. And he was rewarded by being given the captain’s armband for their friendly with Malta this weekend.

It proved to be a good evening for Northern Ireland. They won 3-0 in Klagenfurt, with Dallas playing a key role in the latter two goals.

He set up Gavin Whyte for their second, with some smart play on the edge of the box. He quickly released the ball to the winger who doubled their lead.

And a delicious touch from Dallas allowed Paddy McNair to set up Ali McCann for the third.

By the time he was replaced by Liverpool starlet Conor Bradley with five minutes remaining, Dallas had managed to feature in a number of positions, including central midfield and right wing-back.

So it was little surprise that many, including plenty of non-Leeds fans, felt that Dallas was the standout performer.

With the likes of Jonny Evans and Steven Davis not involved, Dallas was one of the few experienced members of the squad in Baraclough’s side.

But unsurprisingly, he stepped up and produced another superb display.

Of course, Northern Ireland supporters will not be getting carried away with a win over Malta.
