Leeds striker Ryan Edmondson posts injury update on Instagram
Leeds United Under-23 striker Ryan Edmondson has confirmed on his Instagram story that he has overcome an injury and is back on the grass – as he continues to push for a chance in Marcelo Bielsa’s senior side.
Edmondson, 18, underwent knee surgery which was confirmed by Leeds’ official website on February 3. The statement read that the striker would be sidelined for 12 weeks, keeping him out until at least the end of April.
The target man has tasted first-team football twice, with both appearances coming back in 2018. But under Marcelo Bielsa, the three-time England Under-19 international has failed to make a single appearance.
A constant fixture of the Under-23 side, Carlos Corberan will be delighted with his progress – as the striker confirmed on Instagram that he is already back on the grass, little over three weeks after the statement was posted by Leeds.
TBR’s view – Early return? And will he finally get a chance under Bielsa?
Given that Leeds issued a statement on Edmondson’s injury at the start of the month, claiming he would be out for the best part of three months, he is surely set to return to full fitness early.
That will be good news for the club’s under-23 side. But will Edmondson finally get a chance under Bielsa? It is clear that the Argentine is yet to be convinced, given his willingness to bring through young players – but Edmondson has not had a chance.
With the business-end of the season coming up, the signing of Jean-Kevin Augustin and a potential Premier League campaign next season – Edmondson may struggle to break through.
