Leeds star Pablo Hernandez posts cryptic message on Instagram
Leeds United veteran Pablo Hernandez has posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story after being left on the substitutes bench during Sunday’s 4-2 defeat to Arsenal at The Emirates – despite the Whites needing a goal.
Arsenal were 4-0 up after 48 minutes, thanks to a number of goalkeeping and defensive mistakes. Leeds were poor, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang took advantage, netting his first ever Premier League hat-trick. Hector Bellerin also got one.
Leeds did score through Helder Costa and Pascal Struijk – the latter netting his first professional goal. Costa was brought on at half-time with Tyler Roberts, while Marcelo Bielsa also gave a debut to Niall Huggins, overlooking 35-year-old Hernandez.
Hernandez, a four-time Spain international, has since posted on Instagram a cryptic message that suggests he has “accepted the injustices” and swallowed something that was hard to take. He has only made one sub appearances since the middle of January.
His post is translated as: “Although it is impossible, never claim anything in life. Swallow the poison of hatred, and accept injustices, rest assured that everything becomes balanced in the end.”
TBR’s view – Hernandez is surely heading towards the exit door
The Spaniard is not out of contract this summer, with his current £19,000-a-week contract expiring in the summer of 2022. However, he is hardly going to want to feed off scraps for another season.
The Athletic recently claimed that Spanish side Castellon, a club that Hernandez part-owns, were interested in signing him towards the end of the January window. A move did not go through, but a return to Spain will surely tempt Hernandez.
It could be the start of the end, for Leeds and Hernandez.
