Leeds star branded ‘frustrating’ by country’s media despite Monday win
Wales boosted their 2022 World Cup qualification hopes by beating Estonia – but the country’s media were unimpressed with Leeds star Dan James.
Kieffer Moore scored the only goal of the game from close range, as Rob Page’s side squeezed a win out of Estonia in Tallinn. It was a tricky game.
But eventually, Wales prevailed. Moore’s goal, indeed, came from a brilliant inswinging James corner – which caused havoc in the Estonia defence.
James, a £25million signing for Leeds from Manchester United on deadline day, has had a tumultuous few weeks – including the birth of his son.
Away in Estonia, James lasted the entire 90 minutes while Leeds teammate Tyler Roberts was an unused substitute. At just 23, James has 27 Wales caps.

But his country’s media were not exactly, impressed. Matthew Davies gave James a 6/10 – stating his end product is frustrating.
“Ran and ran at the Estonia backline and got a bit of joy, but would have surely wanted to be more influential. His final ball continues to frustrate.”
Leeds star James struggles: Wales ace just needs a couple of goals
The pressure on James at the moment is big. The winger is looking to prove his £25million transfer fee – but also continue to shine at international level.
It might be affecting his form. So far, he has clocked up five appearances for Leeds without scoring or creating a single goal for the Yorkshire outfit.
That is not to say, his performances have been below par – but they have been without incident. Much like his outing against Estonia on Monday.
Yes, he scored against Czech Republic in the previous game. But a couple of goals and James will be flying – at least, he has more game time to do it now.
