Leeds should take gamble on reported target Rhian Brewster from Liverpool – TBR View

Leeds United have recently been linked with a move for Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster, but whether they should take a punt on an inexperienced individual is a question that has got to be asked?

The reports that Premier League champions Liverpool are set to send the 20-year-old out on loan in the 2020/21 season and there has been plenty of interest in him already.

It is now understood that Marcelo Bielsa’s side are one of the teams that are targeting the English youngster.

Brewster is someone that on paper looks a gamble for Leeds if they were to sign him this summer, as he’s yet to make his Premier League debut and there would be big pressure placed on him arriving at Elland Road to score goals from the get-go.

But taking him on a loan deal is a risk worth taking and it could end up being a masterstroke if a deal can be secured this summer.

Leeds quickly need to sign some competition for Patrick Bamford in their forward line with the season just around the corner and in an ideal world they would add someone with Premier League know-how.

But Brewster showed real star quality when he joined Championship side Swansea City back in January on loan and there is a reason he’s so highly rated at Anfield, so Liverpool now want him to gain top-flight experience.

The quick centre-forward scored 11 goals in just 22 appearances for the Swans, which helped them make a late dart to the play-offs and his impact on that team was colossal.

He’s a hard working attacker that has such intelligent movement around the penalty box for a youngster and is perhaps a more natural finisher than Bamford, plus he could join a hungry squad desperate to prove themselves in the top-tier.

Brewster has got to start somewhere if he’s going to become an elite striker one day in England and it could be a real opportunity to grab an emerging talent.
