Leeds should join race for Hayden to replace midfield departees Saiz and Baker
Championship promotion chasers and Midlands rivals Aston Villa and West Brom are both interested in wantaway Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden,
They that Rafa Benitez has a high opinion of the English midfielder and wants to keep him with the Magpies but the player himself is keen to get away from the north east.
That has created the opportunity for both Dean Smith or Darren Moore to add a player of Premier League calibre to their ranks and boost their promotion bid.
Leeds are also in need of a January freshen up in their ranks, particularly in central midfield where they have lost both Samu Saiz – to Getate – and Lewis Baker, who returned to Chelsea in order to be loaned out once more.

Hayden is a different type of player – slightly less creative than the departing duo – but he still has quality, and as a Premier League operator who is currently match sharp, he represents a rare opportunity for a Championship club.
Marcelo Bielsa prefers to operate with a small squad but it is getting stretched to its limits by injuries and that should lead Victor Orta to enter the race for Hayden’s signature.
